The Perfect Day

The perfect day brings
a wide open to promise
teeth glistening in the sun
smile from a young girl.
Grinning as she is running
with the lightning
the tall grasses open a path
of sweet tomorrows and
the forget me nots take away
youthful sorrows.
Hands outstretched to the heavens
she grabs for stars
and wishes on comets
as fireflys light her way.
She is wild freedom.
Soothing ripples of lake waters
cradle and entertain her
as she feels the softness of the clouds
and inhales the friendly solitude of the moment,
dripping with rasberry juices,
and ice cream treats,
wearring jewellry made of daisys,
and buttercups,
with chipmunks scurrying at her bare feet.
This is summer long gone
that swells joyful chords of contentment
in my soulful being free again.
I ache with the memory
until I am in those sky reflected waters
with a light rain talking
and the friendly tree branches waving.
Indeed, when the dazzling sparkles
of sun reflected gold
dance arround and surround me
I can once more say that
This is a perfect day !

Your Permission

What a wonderfully refreshing poem. I want to set it to music (classical), and am wondering if you could grant me permission to do that. I may want to turn it in to a composition competition if my teachers agree to the strength of the composition once written. Please write back soon letting me know. Thanks!<snip-sent>
