Dark Streets
6 April, 2004

vinebar

A man walks down the lonely road of shame
He hides from a past that he can never escape
It haunts him, it hunts him
Relentless in its pursuit
Not willing to face the hunter
He walks the streets in shadow
Eyes down cast in anger
Once proud shoulders
Slumped in utter defeat
Little by little his old self is chipped away
Leaving behind a cold heart
A man who hates the world
No one can get close
Few would spare him a glance
Even fewer have ever tried
He will not let them in
He wishes he could vanish
That he could disappear
Away from the gaze of others
So he heads to the only place he can
To the city of the forgotten
