Perfect Day

I felt so happy, I finally got some praise
So I ran outside, and felt the sun's hot rays
They were just so warm, something I never felt
I couldn't wait to tell her, it made my heart melt
So I got in my car, pushed the pedal to the floor
Made it to her house, and opened up the door
Her mom said she was sleeping, but go ahead inside
I made it to her room, I had so much pride

I quickly tapped her door, then tried to turn the knob
I asked her to anwser, to tell her about my job
Everything was quiet, I didn't hear a sound
So I picked her lock, and gasped at what I found
She was on her bed, laying ever still
With an empty bottle, she swallowed every pill
I ran to her side, and told her wake up please
Then my legs gave out, and I fell upon my knees

Below me was a paper, I found it was a note
So I picked it up, and read all that she wrote
She said I shouldn't cry, because she had to go
She said she had a secret, something I should know
Turns out she was pregnant, but it wasn't mine
My eyes began to water, as I read the last line
What was a perfect day, ended in a mess
I guess I must forgive her, so her soul can rest
