Ode To An Egg

( For a prospective test tube Mum )

The Sundrop sitting on his cloud looked around and smiled
For the sky was blue the breazes soft the weather warmly mild
Oh My he called to a passing cloud what a simply perfect view
What joy it is to have all this and be a Sundrop too

The passing cloud smiled sadly puffed a finger and replied
Make the most of it dear Sundrop for far below a man just died
And the law that governs Sundrops and the poor sad human race
States that when a man dies down below a Sundrop takes his place

Oh come now cried the Sundrop I know the law is for the best
And after a life spent down below each soul deserves a rest
But there are layers of Sundrops all around far deeper than the sea
So it's hardly very likely Great God will pick on me

Then midst the swelling sound of trumpets came a golden telegram
Informing Sundrop very kindly his time had come to be a man
And that the law decreed no matter how he might beseech or beg
He must start his life's apprenticeship a small but perfect egg

------- Author's Notes -------

A girl I know asked me to write her a good luck ode to help boost her hopes for the IVF treatment she was receiving... So you had better dedicate it to cheering up any other prospective mum with the same problem......
