Bad Words
Author: Will Berry

vinebar

Who can praise profanity,
As it goes around banal vanity?
The 'F' word is continously heard,
Spoken it is called acting,
Written it is reacting.

As a custodian of the English language,
To advance, I shall fight against this deprivation,
Following an undeniable consideration:
You can speak such words and they are gone,
You can write such words and your soul is wrong.

Profanity clings to your inner self,
Like dust on a shelf,
If you write it, your print is covered in
disfiguring lint,
And what shall be the worst larceny?
You have thrown yourself out of harmony,
Now the entrapment of marquee writers,
All impaled on a collusive rapier,
That most unpardonable sin,
You have lied to yourself on paper.
