Shrouds Of Darkness

Shrouds of darkness cover me
The nights seem endless in their liquid silence
A scream threatens yet is not heard
But I wait in the night

The deafening quietness invades
Heart broken sobbing is felt but not seen
As the sameness of life's rituals
Help to cling to the sanity of what's left

Clouds once of a romantic lovers mist
Now rise to hide the eyes of clear thinking
A thick blanket of alone-ness covers what was
And all that is left of a dream

The truth hidden in the solitude of unknowing
Barriers of thickening walls rise higher
A dance to the music of unheard tunes
Swirling alone in the nights estranged moonlight

All that once was is now a memory
A thread of a fine tapestry once tightly woven
Unraveling the echoes of nightmares once more
Yet still the heart wrenching wailing is silent

Dementia once again stays the executioners noose
Yet the throat thickens of soured mothers milk
The light is but a candle of a hermits warmth
For knowing the sun will once again reign

------- Author's Notes -------

Sometimes it seems life hands out more than one person can take. Every turn of the journey in life holds another darkness. Hard as it may seem.. What is..... is.. But for how long? And how much must one take?
