What Is That

How can love survive
When you don't know why you love me
In silence for miles we sit together alone
Not a word spoken"just tired"

Without a single reason
You say you love me too
Yet you don't know why
Tell me.. what is that?

I could tell you in a million ways
I could say so many things
I could spend every waking hour
In tender moments with you

Yet your touch is cold
Like a mechanical job you caress
No hunger No passion
What is that?

How can this love survive
How can I continue to give all that is me
For a reason unknown
For a dream of someday maybe

You provide gladly
Turning your money over to me
I'm roofed and clothed This you do for me?
But what is that?

I know there is more
Yet by your side I stay
Each night I cry as I watch you sleep
Wanting you to want me

I wish I could understand
You say you love
But why? "I just do"
But what is that?

I need to feel desired
To feel needed
To feel valued
I need to feel a loving touch

So each day I go on
Dreaming of what if
Hoping today you'll know why
But... What is that?

------- Author's Notes -------

Is love all that it seems or could it be something else all together
