Rock And Roll Dad

I don't see you enough
Now, that's all too true
And just God and I know
How I care for you
You're with me each day
In my deepest heart
If I had my way
We'd never be apart

You've got a rock and roll Dad
Singing up and down the road
Sometimes I feel real, real sad
Because I'm missing you so
Oh, I sure would be glad
If you could just come and go
Go with your rock and roll Dad
Singing up and down the road

It may seem strange
That I'm far away
But my love won't change
Not in in a zillion days
Someday I do hope
You will understand
Why I hit the road
To play in a band

You've got a rock and roll Dad
Singing up and down the road
Sometimes I feel real, real sad
Because I'm missing you so
Oh, I sure would be glad
If you could just come and go
Go with your rock and roll Dad
Singing up and down the road

------- Author's Notes -------

This one is dedicated to all six of my "precious little hearts", Jennifer, Benjamin II, Jamin, Angel, Dylan and Zim. Of all things I want, more time with them is at the top of the list. I still want them to come go on the road with me! Love, Dad

That is really really sweet!

I wish my dad would have taken me on the road with him!

Dad!

There was a son, the oldest of five. His Dad a musician, and always gone. His family would move, where ever he played. Pulled out of many schools and to another, finally failing the 4th. Then he was gone for over a year, Chicago & Florida. I know he loved us, he would send money to the school for our lunches. How I missed him so much. Always on the road with his band. The son grew up, and what he remembers of his Dad, he sure loved his music, but I don't remember ever doing anything with him? Playing basketball, teaching me to drive. He sure did love his music, even to his dieing breath, he was still singing and saying cords to a song. Sure wish he could of took the time to show me how to play his guitar. He left us his music, on tapes I hear form time to time. I miss my Dad. His oldest son.

Terrie*, KitKatrina, Megan & "Son"?, Thank you for your..

Terrie*, thank you for your "priceless" comment! I am glad you like Rock And Roll Dad, and took the time to let me know! It means a lot! ***Ben

KitKatrina, thank you for your "wonderful" words about this writing! I appreciate your positive feedback VERY much, and I am pleased that you enjoyed this work! ***Ben

Megan, thank you for your "sweet" comment! I am happy that you liked this one, and I really do appreciate your letting me know. I can't speak for your Dad, but I am one who would love to do more shows with my kids like Bob Marley did, as well as others. I recently saw Leon Russel performing with his beautiful daughters and it touched my heart to see them on stage together making music. That beats MTV and Hollywood to peices as far as I'm concerned. My kids are welcome on any stage I'm ever on! Thanks again! ***Ben

Now as for you, "Son"? I have a feeling that's not your "real" name! Ha! Ha! Haaaa! You have told me a miniscule part of your life story here, but I know you can't tell it all in a paragragh. You say you know your Dad loved you, and that's good. Being a musician is not an easy gig. But, then again, it's not easy being a human being these days no matter what your profession is. I invite you to come back sometime and tell me what you thought of the writing, though, or contact me through the forum. You should hear MY sad story about MY Dad. You might look at things in a WHOLE different light! Thanks, "Son"? for stopping by dreamersreality! ***Ben
