Demita

We were young
And running scared
In nineteen seventy one
When we sat
On the sidewalk and shared
The words to a Leonard Cohen song

Demita, where are you now,
Do you still carry that fire with you?
Demita when I think of you now I wonder,
I wonder if you ever found the truth

We were young
And going wild
When the soldiers filled the street
A country kid
And a wide-eyed child
Looking for love and peace

Demita, where are you now,
Do you still carry that fire with you?
Demita when I think of you now I wonder,
I wonder if you ever found the truth

We were young
And growing fast
Caught in the raging tide
In the center
Of that hurricane blast
You were like a sister of mine

Demita, where are you now,
Do you still carry that fire with you?
Demita when I think of you now I wonder,
I wonder if you ever found the truth...
I wonder if you ever found the truth...
I pray to God that you have found the truth

Terrie*, thank you VERY much for your comment on Demita! I am happy that you like this and I appreciate your kind words a lot. Demita is someone I met back in the seventies. I only knew her briefly, but I will never forget her. That little ball of fire burned herself into my memory forever. Maybe because she sang with such heart! Thanks again! ***Ben
