Blue Through My Soul

I'm blue through my soul
And I don't know where you are
I'm blue through my soul
And I don't know where you are
Every time I get on the road
I'm looking for your car

The stars are bright tonight
A silver moon is sailing on high
The stars are bright tonight
A silver moon is sailing on high
Any minute now I might
Hang my head down and cry

Hear that night-bird in the tree
She's been singing for some time
Hear that night-bird in the tree
She's been singing for some time
Her song sounds so sad to me
Or could it just be my state of mind?

I want to move to the jungle
And build me a house out of leaves
I want to move to the jungle
And build me a house out of leaves
But don't tell that to my uncle
He'd probably send a posse after me

Now, if I had a piano
I'd paint all the white keys black
Yes, if I had a piano
I'd paint all the white keys black
If I had a genie's bottle
I'd wish three times you'd come back

I've been wrestling with depression
My heavy heart is worn paper thin
Yeah, I'm wrestling with depression
My heavy heart is worn paper thin
I'm on the verge of checking myself
Into the nearest looney-bin

Yeah, I'm blue through my soul
And I don't know where you are
Oh, I'm blue through my soul
And I don't know where you are
I keep looking up the road
Hoping I might see your car

Ooooh

Where to begin! I love the repetitiveness, because when you're in that state it's like a broken record in your brain. And I love the part about the night-bird's song sounding sad to you because of your state of mind. So true, that we can take something beautiful and make it a source of depression when we aren't able to think of anything else.
What an awesome poem, from every angle. Just awesome.
