Here In These Hills
28 July, 2003

vinebar

I have seen
The rugged Rockies
I have crossed
The Great Divide
I have been
To New York City
And I have
Taken a subway ride
I saw
Sittin' Bull Falls
Out in
New Mexico
And I
Caught that cannonball
There where
The west wind blows

I have seen
The prairies in Texas
Where the
Beautiful bluebonnets bloom
And I crossed
The Mojave Desert
By the light
Of a big, bright full moon
I paid some
Dues down in Nashville
Yeah, I sang
The blues on Lower Broadway
Still I always
Head out for these hills
When I'm
Through with that lost highway

Now here in these hills
Is where I'll stay
Here in these hills
Till the last light
In these baby blues fade
I may pass
Through your city
To sing and play
For a little pay
Yeah, maybe someday
But here in these hills
Here in these hills
Here in these hills
Is where I'll stay
Unless someone here
Wants to take me to Tahiti
Here in these hills
Is where I'll stay

Beautiful, Beautiful

This poem makes me want to travel all around the world right now. It's beautiful and so poetic. It's like reading an enchanting tale. Keep Writing, you have great talent!

The Hills or where-ever, the soul is...,

Ben,

We all long for the hills, that rest our weary, traveling soul, from New Mexico to the Great Divide, and hope we find, that place un-defined and only known, to our un-revealing mind.

Ben, do you sing, as well as you write, if, so, Buddy Jewell, is in big trouble.

Super work, second poem of your's I read, I can hear the words put to music, I'm sure, you can to! Glad to hear, you made it to New Mexico.

P.S.
I did a piece called the Lonely Rode, take a peek, as you have time, think you and I were thinking along the same lines.

Thanks Martin, Stacey and Enchantress for.....

Thanks Martin, Stacey and Enchantress for your very encouraging comments! They are so appreciated more than you know. And Martin, yes I sing but I don't think Jewell is too worried about me! Ha! Ha! I will check out Lonely Rode, too! Thanks all of you!!

Re: Here in these Hills by Ben Laney

I am the one responsible for letting Ben use a computer to post all these lyrics and poems. No apologies (I have to put up with all the craziness live, first hand). Ben sings as well as he writes. If he had looks to match he would be on the road to easy money. (just kidding Ben, about the money).

BirdBrain, you provide a service to us all!

Joel,
Let the warped mind, of Ben, unleash his heart's soul, upon your computer, I don't think, any of us mind.
