The Heart Is A Fragile Thing

Walk down the main street
Any town, anywhere
There you're sure to meet
With cold eyes
And empty stares
People without peace
Thinking nobody cares
Like foam on the seas
They are tossed here and there

Don't be quick to judge
By what the outside shows
Some folks hold a grudge
Caused by an evil blow
It's hard to detect
What might have scarred a soul
Nobody's perfect
Oh, surely you know

I have lost my mind
And felt so all alone
Walkin' around blind
Just as numb as a stone
I have fallen down
And struggled to get up
Yeah, I've been around
Enough to know this much

Oh, oh the heart
The heart is a fragile thing
Ten thousand times more tender
Than a tiny hummingbird's wing
If yours has ever been broken
Then you know just what I mean
Oh, oh the heart
The heart is a fragile thing

Great One

Another excellent one, I see. Yes, I can realate to this one, too, very emotional, reminding me of how I felt...last week. Eck! Very depressing, lol. Anyway, very nicely done, I jus' wish I could express my emotions as well as you. :)

Fragile, as a humming birds wings!

Ben,

Those words, "Fragile as a humming bird's wings," I could read and feel and caress, all day long, that one line. I really love, love the story, its just, that one line. Normally, I can be funny, but that line, tore something out of me. I write about love and all I feel is true, but as delicate as a humming birds wing, it just got to me. Amazing, what one line can say, how far it can take you, from where, you are today. Ben, I read it all, but just that one line, burns in my mind, don't know what to say...,Don't know, what to say.

Martin Vann, what you said is....

Martin, what you said is really appreciated! Humming birds wings are indeed tender, but since writing this I found out that after drinking less than one ounce of nectar, a humming bird can fly all the way to Brazil from the US. So I guess they are fragile but STRONG! I couldn't do that even if I ate three dozen roses and a bunch of daisies! Ha! Ha! Haaa! As always, I really, really do enjoy your encouraging words and I thank you again! Best To You! ***Ben
