The next day, while sitting at home
Patrick made it an effort to walk over to the phone
He hesitated, before dialing Clair's number
The sweat stuck to his shirt, his heart was beating ten times faster

Then he hung up the phone, to gather his thoughts
To practice a few lines, before he was confident to call
Pacing the floor, reminiscing her face
And remembering the hello's they've exchanged

Oh! If only he knew what to say
If only he wasn't so nervous that day
If only the words had formed out of his mouth
Then, he wouldn't have nothing to dread about

With a trembling hand, he scribbled a few things on paper
Writing a short monologue of what he would say to her
He was ready now, to finally do the deed
His written dedication, he was eager to read

He had a sweaty sensation in his hands
And an uneasy feeling in his glands
'ring ring'
'pick up before I put it down again!,

then came her soft gentle voice,
'hello?'

Patrick said nothing,
"please, please don’t do this again he said to himself
in his mind."

'Err...hi Clair its..
'Hello Patrick,
what took you so long?
You have not been at your window,
I thought you had gone!

'Clair, I have to say something to you,'
Patrick unfolded his note
and began..............

Dear, Clair
When I first saw those beautiful hazel eyes
I admit, you had me hypnotized
Your charm was so captivating, it gave me butterflies
To look into those sparkling eyes, and see Heaven for the first time

Ooooo…. How I shiver at the sound of your name
There’s something about you Clair that sets my soul aflame
All the ladies I’ve met in my lifetime, were all the same
But, your beauty expresses more than words can say

Just by the presence of your flowerlike face
You have the values of a princess; such royalty, such grace!
Clair, you have genuine principles; I admire you
No one has ever made my heart tingle, the way you do

In the end, I just hope my apology is accepted by you
I didn’t mean to upset or disappoint you
But, never did I expect for my dream to come true!
To finally meet such a brilliant person like you

Realizing that you’re my one and only rose,
I long for each petal of our friendship to grow
Thankful to you, for showing me that you care,
My world has changed, since the day I met you, Clair

Love,
Patrick
