Blue Sun Cafe

Around the trees
here in the Redwoods
a thick mist is curling
in a silver-grey shroud
Mongo is banging
pots in the kitchen
He's getting ready
for the breakfast crowd
The doors are open
the coffee is steaming
Some early risers
are slowly streaming in
Up at the counter
Sweet Jenna is greeting
The first customers
as the clock strikes six a.m.
Sleepy-eyed people
double check their watches
As they wait in line
for fresh cups of caffeine
Jenna is friendly
she keeps them talking
while hot water drips
through ground gourmet beans
The sun is rising
In the Santa Cruz Mountains
chasing the fog away
A new morning is dawning
The locals are yawning
It's time to start the day
At the Blue Sun Cafe

This is a little snapshot of life in a mountain town. It only takes five minutes to walk from one end of Boulder Creek to the other, unless you stop in at the Blue Sun Cafe. You want a bagel with that? |
