Daddy Please Hurry Home

It was a sad day,
I wanted daddy to stay home and play.
Mommy and I saw him leave.
Daddy, please hurry home.

I miss my daddy; he has only been gone a week.
The house is so very dull and bleak.
Where is my daddy?
Daddy, please hurry home!

Time passes by so slowly without daddy here.
Mommy and I are filled with fear.
She prays every night;
Daddy, please hurry home.

We got a letter today
Mommy said her fear has gone away
Daddy is alright she said.
Daddy, please hurry home.

A year has passed since that day
Everything is still okay
Daddy is still alive
Daddy, please hurry home!

We got another letter
Soon things will be better
Daddy is coming home soon
Daddy, please hurry home.

Mommy stopped being happy
I don't know why
She yells I didn't get to say good-bye.
Daddy, please hurry home.

I know why mommy is sad
Things are real bad.
Daddy died yesterday in the war.
Daddy, I will always love you!
