I was born in Seventy-four,
Soon after my father went for the door.
Years passed by,
Without a single reply
The loss of a father,
Forced my life to spin without end
And then a woman helped me start over again.

At nineteen, on a February day without snow,
We exchanged our rings and said our "I do's".
Every day and every night I held her tight,
For some reason I did not want to let her leave my sight.
Some people say they knew what was to come,
But for two and half years we sure had fun.

The Lightning Flashed,
The Thunder Crashed,
The Rain Splashed.

A drunkin' man fell a sleep,
A women in pain without relief.
An unborn child cries,
"Cause she'll never see her father's eyes,
And I can only ask why?

These days I'm left to walk the grassy fields,
Where the rows of stone point to the sky.
I kneel down at my familiar place,
Where part of my name is in a space.
Years have passed by, but I still can't let go,
Because I'll always remember that day without snow.

OH man!

Great Silent Voice! I like the way you wrote this! Your father you haven't seen in years.... And someone else's child, hasn't seen their father in years either.... From what I gather in your poem... Nicely written about the familiar place.... Sad though... Keep on writing your feelings! Smiles, Meridian Great poetry!!!

thank you

Thank you for comments I really do appreciate it. I know just like I experience in the art world, we should let the viewer make there own assumtions and leave our own voice out of it, but to tell you the truth the poem is actually about my life growing up. From leaving in a one parent family, coping with it all as I grew up, finally finding hope with a women I loved and only to loss it all when we lost our child. I wrote it in 99, alittle over one year after it all happen and it took until now for me to allow anyone really to see it. Baring my soul I guess. Once again, Thanks and I'm glad you found it worth reading.
