Stillness
22 July, 2004

You arrived today,
early --
and breathless.

A tiny, motionless gift.
You were to flood my life
with warmth;
now the coldness
numbs me.

Your crib is empty
like my womb.

I glimpsed you briefly --
longed to cradle your fragility,
sing lullabies
and simply love you;

they hurried you away
with a slice of my soul.

The blanket
that once shrouded you
exudes your essence.
My comfort blanket now.

Congratulatory bouquets
have been exchanged
for funereal wreaths.

Life resounds with --
silence.

so unselfish cap to share this

you reminding us of what others go through makes our problems seem so silly. So you are getting your name out there.When you are famous, remember us struggling poets.:) Very nice cap and congratulations.

Ha ha!! I think it will take more than one poem to make me famous. If I ever will it will probably be after my days here -- like most artists. I think I'll always be struggling... like evryone else --haha!!

Cap, We Have Always, Honored You, We Read Your Poe

Cap, I read this as a part of so many, women's hearts and I feel for them, as best, a man can. She lies there, all alone, not the way she thought it would be. No sweetness, at her breast, no sound at all, this was not the way, it was ment to be. then, in her sadness, she looks up, sees more than a wall, over head, she sees her baby, laughing and smiles, as she sees her baby, being held, in God's arms. Cap, you have always been honored, by all of us, whom with, you have shared your heart. -MartinV

Cap your words have a very calming effect..

this has great meaning to me out of 7 pregnancies i was finally blessed w/2 miracle children..Your words are an open soothing prayer. a hug from Jesus is forever.. and knowing that the hearts we lost are in those hands brings us peace,solitude and understanding, and soothing to know that an Angel among us holds loving thoughts in her heart..thank you for such lovely caring words my tears fall to catch another..

Heart touching

A bittersweet poem "Stillness".... My aunt, had 5 pregnancies, and was blessed with three sons.... Out of those pregnancies, she had miscarriages, but she has her three sons (like the television seires...lol)! Terrie* is blessed as well, to have miracle children! God has smiled on you Cap, and Terrie*! Wonderful submission! Smiles, -Meridian
