The Sign Outside My Window

Almost every evening when I return to my apartment
I stop and take a look at the photos on the wall
Pictures of my children and family and the woman I Love so
I open the blind on my front window
Outside my window there stands a swinging sign
The name of the apartment complex in bold letters
I some times wonder how many before me looked at this sign
Wishing for a phone call, or a knock at the door
Loneliness creeps in when you stair out this window
The sign swinging, cars going by
Some times memories come to visit when you are all alone
But what are memories if not shared
They become ghost from the past as well as the present
Some good / Some bad
But it matters not the visit when one is alone you will be sad before long
How can ones heart be so full of Love and yet be so very lonely
I would not wish loneliness on anyone not even an enemy
For you see loneliness is the saddest place I have ever been
Loneliness will make one dwell on problems and you can feel
Deprecation breathing at your neck
It is so very hard to sleep when you are alone, to eat
I start to write of the Love in my life, when my heart is full
Then I begin to fall asleep
The next morning it starts all over again
And I know that one day my life will be filled with togetherness
Laughter and a family
And that's what keeps me going.
I Finnish this looking out this window the sign swinging
as though to inspire me to write
and wonder how many after me will stand here.
I know my future holds a wonderful life
With the woman I Love so,
And our children

Paul i understand completely of.....

the lonliness/wishes that your heart speaks..sems like you too are familiar w/the saying"I would rather BE ALONE by MYSELF than to FEEL alone when I AM W/SOMEONE ELSE..a phone call may seem unimportant to many but it holds a lot of love in the thought..i so feel you here..your poetry tugs at my heart..you share every word w/deep passion and true feelings from the heart of a man so in love...HUGS/LOVE
