By candlelight I whispered my goodbye,
reflected light prepared your soul to fly
away. Old eyes were closed but sensed me near,
the cool caress of Death aroused no fear.

I plumped soft pillows underneath your head,
and rearranged your comfort blanket, spread
to warm your waning flame. With misty sight
I kissed your weary head - - a pensive night.

I spluttered words of love and touched your paw;
your eyelids flickered. My vision saw
a youthful glow of energetic zest;
the light then swayed and soothed your soul to rest.

Emotions blazed. I tore myself away
from your last spark, that ebbed before the day.
The candle dimmed before the flare of dawn,
your jaded spirit flew, and light was gone.

This mem’ry now ignites and droplets fall;
I blot the spill, reliving your recall
to Heaven’s Kennel, where a new life shows
your vibrant flame, as light forever glows.

My beautiful Border Collie dog died 2 years ago yesterday.
All these memories have come flooding back.

All Dogs go to Heaven

What a nice poem Cap. They really do become a part of your family. Jan. 17th will be the anniversary of the death of my golden retriever. I miss her so. Anyhow, I'm so glad you have such fond memories of your pupper dog. You have such talent for writing poetry. I love reading your work.

A True Friend, Waits At The Gate

Cap,

I to, have lost such dear, warm friends, no need to go on, you know, how I feel. I have never, registered, such a loving friend, but some do, I can't beleive, those who did, loved them as you and I still do.

I'm printing this Cap, I have a friend, and I fear his time is near. Yes, I will still cry, but your words, will help me understand, and appreciate, he will be there, at the pearly gates, wagging, his little tail, the truest of true friends, I ever knew.

I share a tear for your's Cap, and soon for my own friend.

Cap, your heart is as loving as your friends, I can not type on this key-baord and cry for my friend.

My Thanks to you Cap, and to the love, given with out request, from our friends.

Nice one Cap!

Capricorn, this poem was so profound, so out there. I absolutely cannot say how beautiful and in depth it is. There so much loveliness to interpret! I love that in a poem. Great Job!
