Early Darkness
19 October, 2004

There are no sun spots
on the sun today.
Maybe that is why
there is an extra heaviness in the air-
an extra heaviness in you-
which takes on forms in me.
There is much I can do
and not so much more, it seems.
I have to save myself-
keep my self.

And so, on October the 12th,
all the sunspots disappeared.

Yellow leaves were all over
the ground in the park-
crunchy leaves,
picture pleasing leaves,
setting the mood for hallowe'en leaves,
days are getting really darker leaves.

And we had some fun-
a little walk-
scarf weather-
hooded people - zipping up jackets,
pumpkins outside stores,
the last of the corn weather.
You did smile a bit.

Solar minimum is coming.
And so what of it ?
They say it is safer to travel through space.
I journey through this day-
with your presence,
your faraway thoughts.

Now, early evening darkness-
my lamp is on-
smoke blows curling in front of me.
No sunspots,
crunchy leaves,
darker days,
your heaviness in the other room-
as I search for my light...

Envious

I am so envious of the way you are able to capture moments like these so vividly with your words. I do not read your poems, I live them. I do not see your poems, I sense them. And that, is something that any person (poet or not) will be envious of.
The poem is beautiful as always.

i thank you

....I appreciate your comments, Pamela and Terrie.
It's encouraging, especially when one has had a kind of a writers block...yet still has a zillion thoughts flowing throughout ones mind....thanks
