Growing Up In Pictures

I got their pictures on the wall
so I can see their loving smile.
I call them on the phone
just to talk for a while.
I know it's not the same
as really being there
but it's the only way
I can show them that I care.
There's some old forgotten toys
in the closet put away.
A cardboard box of memories
that stills smells of yesterday.
It's been over a year
since I've held their little hands
and I know I 'll never get to watch them
grow up into men
I watch them grow up in pictures
day by day it seems
they keep getting bigger
but they're still little in my dreams

I feel this pain

Wow! Your poem really touched me. I know this pain of long ago. Reason I wrote "Remembered tears." Hey, you hang in there and keep them in touch. See them when you can. I ride dirtbike with my son once a year. He's 30 now. Really a nice poem that I can relate to. Thanks for sharing with us. Take care brah!
