Sweet Memories ...to Remember..

I can remember
sitting on the porch with my daughter and son
whom were 2 & 3 years old
every evening we sit outside visit w/grandad
as we waited for pops
we listened while he talked about his younger years
and of family that were pioneers done past

a bit older now
today was a bit different
we baked an apple pie
and disquised milk as chocolate drink

a sweet secret I kept from the children
you see pop worked far away
and was often away on the road
and we are left all alone
with-out his loving touch

yet he managed to call us nightly
on the phone before the children went to bed..
today the three of us were gonna go
to that far away place where memories began so long ago..

we managed to make our games last
until he was there to lift the three of us in the air
with in his strong loving arms

sometimes our time was often so very short
a surprise I thought would be nice
for they loved their pop
an awful lot
and i know they miss him
since his time with us was stolen of memories

I packed a bag or two to go
up to the snow..
I can see both kids on the ground
making snow angels for their dad

from a distance they resemble butterflies
with tears rolling down
I know pops was touched
he felt it all in his heart..
because I too felt it in mine

a memorable day had just ben created
and I know that pop enjoyed what he saw
cause he had front row seat and saw it all
from Gods house...up above

Memories

Memories, as years go on,
Its those memories that hold us together,
Always the ones that made us laugh,
seldom the ones that we would cry,
Thank you for putting you into your words Terrie
