Footprints

Tiny footprints imprinted in the sand
Slowly washed aqay by the incoming tide
Evidence of where we wince stood
Begins to fade
Disappearing in front of our eyes
A life walked through darkness
In search of a dream
Fights with internal demons
Falling upon broken wings
Scars on your arms
Tears that are cried
Plagued by the never ending desire
To embrace the knife
To self harm
And as we watch the footprints desappear
We try to hold on to the memories
As the ocean fills with tears
