The Child Within
Author: Christina L Pineda
I am but a mere child in a woman's body. I know not what boredom is for I am always filled with curiosity and agility to discover and wonder about. I giggle with such glee at your silly quirks and mistakes. Laugh with me at my own malapropisms and everyday blunders.
I am young, fresh, strong and bold;a leader if I may. I'm of free spirit and not one to be caged like a bird. I am to spread my wings and live life to it's fullest, for that is my dream.
The simplicities of life of having ice cream and being able to skip about of the sidewalks is my delight. To lose myself in a good book and fall asleep to the rhythm of your heart is where my comfort lies.
To look up at you and ask "why?" is my little joke for I also have the answer. To not know the answer is my admiration to such a superior being.....(yeah, right).
I am a shining light in the darkness, follow me, take care of me, hold me but don't try to cover or hover over me.
Do not dim my 10,000 watt smile or shimmer in my eyes with your chauvinistic ways. Do not taint my dreams with nightmares of your overbearing hands oppressing and yielding away at my bountiful and generous capabilities.
Do not drape over me the blanket of fear within my heart to love you. Let me be myself. Let me pout my lips and stomp my feet as I cross my arms being stubborn. Let me jump up and down on the bed and laugh til it hurts.
Rejoice with me down memory lane, bring back the boy suppressed within you. Feel the sand between your toes at the beach and collect seashells with me. Build a sand castle with me and reminisce on childhood dreams of living in one.
Take me by the hand as we go out into the woods with a flashlight in search of tree branches for our smores! Sit in front of the fireplace with me all nice and toasty eating smores and drinking wine! What a mix huh? Yes, a fun mix I may add indeed.

You are being yourself, a quality that most girls lack.
