My Empty Nest
Now it's the cold light of day
And you're no longer here
It was time for you to go away
Never to be quite so near
Life and love to you I gave
You'll remember this I hope
As independent lives we crave
And without each other we cope
My nest is empty and feels so strange
Yet I know it has to be
My life I'll have to rearrange
And get used to being `free'
Please don't forget the joys we've shared
And everything I've taught
Remember I will always care
You're often in my thoughts
I will survive this changing time
Your photo's in it's frame
Although you will come home sometime
Life will never be quite the same

good writing cap,Isn't it funny when they are small we can't wait for them to grow up,when they do and it's time to let go.We find it one of the hardest things to do. I left you a message in the forum what I like about the forum is you can take your time to reply. Leaving a message in the day when you have time is nice no pressure. Keep having feelings :)

Yes Barb it's better than a chat room where you have to write quickly to keep up.You can just answer when you can. Feel I've made new friends on the forum. Thanks for your comment Barb

Cap, you are very lucky to have a loving relationship with your family like that. I wish the best of luck.

I really enjoyed your poem. It's gotta be hard to raise your kids and watch them walk out the door.
And i'm sure you always worry
Anyhow.. keep up the great work!!
