When You Get A Dog

Dog hair in your ears
dog hair in your nose
Dog hair on your gear
dog hair on your clothes
That's what you get
when you get a dog

Hey, that's what you get
when you get a dog
Yes, that's what you get
when you get a dog
A whole lot of dog hair
comes along with the pet
Hey, that's what you get
when you get a dog

Dog hair on your feet
dog hair on your head
Dog hair on your sheet
and all over your bed
That's what you get
when you get a dog

I saw you this morning
at the rising of the sun
You were scraping a long dog hair
right off the end of your tounge!
Eew! Eew! Eew!

Hey, that's what you get
when you get a dog
Yes, that's what you get
when you get a dog
A whole lot of dog hair
comes along with the pet
Hey, that's what you get
when you get a dog

------- Author's Notes -------

I am dedicating this to my poetic daughter, Angel Dawn, and her wonderful little "Gimpy Dog", Emmy Lou Love. Hey, if you love a dog you must accept the fact that they come with a whole lot of DOG HAIR! Haaa! Haaaa! Haaaaaa! I saw a guy at the coffee house scraping a DOG HAIR off his tounge as he was getting out of his truck and it reminded me of my daughter's dog.

Love You Angel And Your Gimpy Dog,
Dad

Clive, a Dog Hair on the tounge is funny when it's someone else's tounge it's on, huh? Thank you very much for your comment. I really do like it when my writing brings a smile to someone's face! I am happy you like this one.

hair of the dog........

Thanks Ben Laney.. for a funny poem that surely makes your daughter laugh and happy that her Dad wrote it just for her....reminds me of
that expression "the hair of the dog that bit me" Of all the possible cures for a hangover, why a hair..moreover, why a dog's hair?...how can our sorry state get better with one of Fido's hairs on an already fuzzy tongue....very funny. Thanks for the laugh and reminding me that dog hair is worth any dog that is loving, playful, loyal, intelligent, obedient, protective, an unconditional friend and gives back so much more than it gets..no wonder so many single people have dogs rather than human partners around? Thanks again....enjoyed very much. Time to go brush my dog!

Ben, ya meet my big pet companion....

would ya agree that he perhaps a bit protective of me???
on behalf of my pet companions... loved your cute "funny words" that you shared as well as Angel herself will too...yea they are worth every loose dog hair upon your wooden floor..mine are so spoiled as it is...haven't had a tongue ful of hair hope never to go there...but...i have had to carry a lint brush when i wear my dark scrubs, before i head off to work..they always jump on my lap.......it makes me smile when i get in from work in the morning and i let them out of their cage..to have them greet me with so much love...they are great and yes very loyal companions..
thank you for sharing Angels poem w/us..HUGS/LOVE to you always....

Yes J Freedom Long, you gotta love that...

Yes J Freedom Long, you gotta love that HAIR of the DOG. And it's true that many people like their dogs more than they do other human beings, and dogs can be a loyal companion. Thank you very much for your comment on this writing, I really appreciate it. I am glad to know you enjoyed it and think it's funny! Hey, keep your mouth closed while you're brushing that creature! Haa! Haaa!
Best Regards, Ben

This is funny Ben

You crack me up Ben. I never thought anyone would write about dog hair? I have a siberian samoyed and I can fill up three garbage bags of dog hair when he starts to shed. Hair everywhere and in my mouth. I solved that. Chew gum, and you never notice the hair in your mouth. Brush outside, not in the garage and use a blower to blow the hair into your neighbor's yard. Ha,ha just kidding. Thanks for making me laugh and sharing your work.

Terrie*, double check the back of your slacks....

Terrie*, double check the back of your slacks when you're using that lint roller! You can always spot a dog owner by the DOG HAIR on their hiney. Haa! Haaa! Thank you very much for your comment, girlfriend. I really appreciate it, and I'm happy to know you got a laugh out of it.
HUGS/LOVE to you, too! -Ben

Dino, that mountain of DOG HAIR.....

Dino, that mountain of DOG HAIR getting blown by a leaf-blower into the neighbor's yard is a funny thought. I hope your neighbor doesn't have a rottweiler, though! Thank you very much for your comment. I enjoyed it, and I am happy to know you got a laugh out of it!
Best Regards, Ben
