As, I’m Walking, Toward Those Pearly Gates

I have all my memories, packed in the one, suit case allowed
There is, one memory, I carry in my blue jean, shirt pocket
The one, that, means so, much to me, the day you said
That you loved me and since that time we have raised our kids

Seen the world, spinning round, shared the thunder, that life can bring
As I approach, those pearly gates, I am asked, what is that in your pocket
I say, oh, just a special memory, may I take it with me?
Saint Peter says, did you love her, I reply, would have brought her, if, I could

Saint Peter, says, that is good enough, now let’s see, what is in your suit case
Oh, I see, you took her to a drive-in, she ordered a Vanilla Milk shake,
and spilled it in side your car, you wanted to rip, her head off,
but, you married her, instead

Oh, I see the day, your first son was born, and I see, the time you fought with
Her, and I see that you made up, well, let’s just pass by that one by
Now I see, you cried, when your daughter was born and asked the nurse
Is your wife all right, and she replied, she wanted you by her side

Then they let you in, as you held her hand, she said, Darlin, when its time
If, I go before you, I want you to know, when I pack my one suit case
The one thing I will take is the day, you said, you Love me.

Glad You Felt, The Thought Of This Poem

Jerry,

Of course, I appreciate, your thoughts about mine. Sorry, guess, I hit the Character Return somewhere, this was not the format, I had intened for the to be displayed, and Dreamer, can't do it all, we need to get right the first time. Apparently, you did, you felt the feeling of my poems, so, I suppose, no matter the presentaion, if, the words, are from the heart, they will be hear and understood.

Thank You Jerry,
Martin
P.S. Glad to know, your suit case is full and ready, when you get the call.
