Battle Clouds
2 January, 2005

The clouds are crowding close for battle. Troops
are kitted out in uniforms of grey,
as squadrons integrate for combat; groups
of nimbus’ faces darken in dismay.
Advancing with a distant rumble, cries
of combat terrorize the sun away.
Grenades explode and flash across the skies,
while startled creatures scatter in dismay.

Belligerence increases `til it bursts
in torrents, tumbling down to drench the earth
and quench the desiccating flora’s thirst.
As bands of cirri triumph in rebirth,
contentiousness departs. The sun arrives
to weave the skies with hope and peace revives.
