When You Failed To Return..

when I was told where you were
I peeked in and took a glimpse
i didn't want to disturb you
as you were asleep
so I left you a note
I forgot to sign it
but you rememberd
the scent of my perfume

at the end of my shift
I went up to C.V.U
when I saw you laying there motionless
it made me want to cry

it made me relive my memories
of long ago
of my loved one that died

I went up to you and whispered
with a tear shaking loose from my eye
i said
Good Morning..
my friend
I'm here..

reminding you to call on me when you need me
I promise to be there
I'm only a call a heartbeat and a drive away

you went away and never returned
broke many hearts including mine

I hoped and prayed
every thing remained the same
sometimes things change and never remain as we like
except for the fondness
that developes in a heart's memory

you have touched many life's
from day one
to hear your voice
would be a blessing and a good sign
that I was still on your mind

I thought that was rather cute & sweet
when you named that plush puppy
I had given you
for a speedy recovery
"Bypass"

my words were
every bachelor
needs a friend to hold
to remind them that they are not alone..

when you parted
I felt like many words were left unsaid
you made a promise
in the last letter that you wrote
that you would return
some how we keep drifting away
I still wait for you
to show up in the sunset
perhaps once again
for the third time
you and I will cross one anothers path
