I’m not your maiden in distress
Or princess trapped in a tour
I’m not your orphaned servant girl
I wasn’t born out of a flower.
I don’t dress in silk and lace
I don’t coo and bat my eyes
I will not ask you to rescue me
With those pitiful screechy cries.
I won’t ask you to sleigh dragons
Or ride in on your faithful steed
I won’t ask you to wear shining armor
Because that’s not what I need.
I don’t want a Superman
Or a strong and angry Hulk
I don’t care about the muscle
It’s your heart that needs the bulk.
I don’t need your large ego
Or deceiving, cheating, and lies
I want a polite gentleman
Not a hero in descries.
I want respect, love, and honesty
Someone I can trust
I want intelligence, romance, and individuality
Not selfishness and lust.
I want someone to be faithful
Till death do us part
I want someone to love me
And never break my heart.

Leah06.........

i believe we all search for "REAL LOVE" and the respect that is a part of it..sometimes it is fear that keeps us from accepting it...fear is our protection...believe deep in your heart and soul ,that real love will come to you..to share the same that you keep in your heart... the stars that light up our sky at night all have a name...BELIEVE this....some where out there , there is a young heart that bears your name.....he still searching for you...your still young it will find you..love is something you do not want to rush into..God will allow it to present itself ...LOVE is something you want to give recieve and share fore evermore..thanx 4 sharin' ..GREAT WRITING ...i'm deeply impressed w/your work..Terrie*

Shrek

Leah! Wanted: Dream Guy, was (I need the words), it was that BEAUTIFUL! You know, when you say, you're not the princess trapped in a tour, waiting for a knight to come rescue you, reminds me of Shrek rescuing Princess Fiona! Oh, that movie was hilarious! But, in all seriousness, Leah I clicked back into this poem so much, that my history section has your poem more than five times! I love it girl! You've got talent!
Don't worry, he'll come. You probably see him everyday and don't even know in the future, you two will be linked.

Thank you so much for reading. This whole poem was really important to me because being the age that i am, society happens to controll how we (as teens and young adults) percieve people. I find it discusting how they expect young woman to look thease days and i for one am not an example of their "perfect woman". I think it is equally discusting and unrealistic the way they percieve young men. I just wanted to bring out how i see things, and how i believe things should be. I'm not shallow or money seeking, that isnt me. and i just wanted to show that to those who care to read. thank you once again.
