Never Say Goodbye

They said you can't make it the tumor is in to deep
They said you'll never get through prepare for eternal sleep

They said that there was no hope, no faith, nor a cure
I thought you were guaranteed forever cause your heart was far to pure

I looked at you lying helplessly in the bed
You stared right back at me and said:

"Dear friend my time to leave has come
I will leave with memories and you will stay with some
I don't want to see you suffer so don't you dare cry
I need someone to be strong so why don't you try?
Tomorrow may never come for me but you can't erase the past
Even if I am no longer here our friendship will always last
All I've got left to do is patiently wait to die
Today is the beginning of the end but I will never say goodbye"

Permission

Hi,

Your poem is very beautiful. My mom does have cancer and is passing soon.. I would very much like to use your peom, but the "Dear freind" I would like to switch to either "Dear Family" or "Dear Children". What do you think?

I would still note your name as author.

Please?

sniff sniff

Hey Marlene, it has been said that the person who is dying needs their friends and relatives to be as strong as possible, not pussy foot around the fact they are dying, but of course this is easier said then done.

I was thinking, maybe you could get in touch with a hospice or two that is near you and see if they could maybe put your poem in their waiting areas so people could look up and gain inspiration from your fantastic words? I think just the last paragraph would do?
With your permission I would like to do the same at my end? I would of course put you down as the author/let me know what you think...either way...a heartfelt write.
