What's Going On

Write a letter, put it in the post
After many weeks...
No reply

Send an SMS, it HAS been received
After many weeks...
No reply

Send an email or a greeting card
It's been received and viewed, the site host says
But as you've guessed...
No reply

At Birthdays and Christmas
I send cards and gifts
Not a "thank you" has been said to me
Until I ask if they've arrived safely

This goes on for many months
Questions fill my mind in floods
What is happening with my friend?
An unreceived message did she send?

I wonder too...
Am I being ignored?
If so, then, why? What have I done?
Did I do or say something wrong?

I could change what's wrong to right
If only I knew! To keep this friendship, I'd fight!

But what if it's a simple change of heart?
Time for two friends to move apart?
How will I know if this is true?
If she's too scared to say we're through?

Should I drop her a line once in a while?
And hope that someday she will reply
Is this too much? Am I being a pest?
She might complain that she's being harassed!

I'm so confused, as you can see
Should I just leave my friend be?
"I admit defeat! You have won!
Goodbye, old friend, for I am gone!"

Awesome Poem

I really related to this poem, when it came to trying to reach I penpal I had for 4 years, she never responded after a sudden point. I so can relate to this poem, and it's true on the narrator's point of view! Sadly mine ended the same way...

Thanks, Enchantress

Yes, it's very sad when a penfriendship comes to a screeching halt with no apparent reason why. This is exactly why I wrote this. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my poem. Cheryl.
