In Love With My Best Friend by Christa

We started out as friends
with little more than that
I told you all my feelings
while on the phone we sat

I found myself talking to you
almost each and every day
Yet I never felt a need to stop
cuz there was so much to say

You were my true companion
the person to dry my tears
You listened to my problems
my secrets and my fears

Eventually our friendship blossomed
into a true romance
You kissed me and my state of mind
went into a dream-like trance

All our emotions then came out
all the secrets we'd been hiding
Though we'd both had so many fears
we knew that love was not worth fighting

So we crossed our fingers and closed our eyes
and said we'd give it a try
And ever since then our love's grown stronger
with each day that passes by

And in the future I truly hope
that our love and friendship never end
Cuz who'd have thought my one true love
would end up being my best friend?
