Wishful Thinking
8 March, 2005
Author: Mike

I wished upon a star today,
I prayed the pain would go away,
But the star upon the sea of black
Means to grant my wish it lacked.

For some reason it has settled
Deep inside my mind.
Far in the distant shadows
Where even I can't find.

The finality of this
Has struck me like a slap.
Where there was love in my heart
There is nothing but a gap.

All the pain and hatred
You poured into my soul
Will haunt me eternally
As slowly I grow old.
