Induced Defiance

Roaring into the bar
reved up-
Mr. sociable..the right words
for everyone-
rehearsed speech.
Yet they lap it all up.

He filters a warmth
onto lost souls-
makes body images better-
lightens any thickness of body or soul.

He pours your drink-
generous-
and pours the compliments
with a fervour
of a theatrical performance.
The stage is set.
He belts out
finely rehearsed
tunes-
political satire merged cleverly
into these pieces.

More draft flows pouring
more confidence
and political correctness
into his powerful body-
dressed to kill..
Hair on fire - braided dreds
carress
the dance floor,
dipping with the best of them-
Music
screeching
to a sonic
pitch-
body gyrating-
draft spilling
onto the floor.

He crosses the line
of anger subdued-
now exploding bit by bit
and his social graces start to plummet.
down down
He starts to drown.
His shirt get creased
and the girls
speak with others
who have bought them an expensive rose.

He frantically
belts down another shooter-
another activist song exploding
from his lips - clenched jaw-
A hurricane evolving-

Yearning for a taste of freedom
The line is crossed.
Any freedom now
is surely lost.

He is sinking
low
lower-
resorts to desperation-
This finely tuned nite
has turned once more.
Rehearsals
gone not as planned-
He shudders...

karaoke now closed.
The flowers all sold.
His compliments have swerved
to unintended
hidden insults.
His agenda twisted
once more-
He has lost his plan-
even his slam dunk poems
won't help him now.

He leaves to shower off
the messed up agenda
and to prepare for tomorrows
dances and karaoke tunes...

One more shooter
going down down...

Lonely life, lived in a glass of wine.

Pondering Red,

This is a great satire about life, found in a glass of wine. Yet as you say, glass is so easy to see through for there is, no heart, to block the view.

Great Heart, felt poem of truth.
