as I lay there
sharing your bed
I allowed you to hold me
close deep into the night

before back to work
i'd have to depart
I just wanted to stay here
close to your heart

we lay in silence
listening to one anothers heartbeat
mine hooked up to yours
yours hooked up
to the monitor on the wall

a night i will forever remember
in a different way
i looked around
with tears in my eyes

we were re-newing our vows
as you lay there in your bed
i held you tighter than before
when the priest said
in sickness and in health
until death do you part

I read this just now. to me this is great heart writing. In your words I could sense the love you felt. Very sorry about your loss, but your writing is so good.
