Dysfunctional

Two alcoholics for parents.
Thug for a brother.
And I'm the other.

Time to suffocate another memory.
As all I can see is the flaws.
In the people I'm meant to adore.

My brother commits another crime,
Mum and Dad, in a boozy daze.
They say it's just a phase.

The shouting hollows out my head.
Your daughter, see her tears glisten?
Put down the bottle long enough to listen.

When it gets too much.
I think about running away somewhere.
Then maybe you'd care.

These happy families, they're the minority.
So many families like mine.
Stop pretending everything's fine.

------- Author's Notes -------

It's proven that the majority of families are actually dysfunctional now. I remember a comedian saying "those happy families, now they're the FREAKS". It was the inspriration for this poem ^_^

..

I won't tell you it'll get better, because I don't want to give false hope. What I will tell you is that the only thing you can do is try to get on with your life. I know its hard having parents that don't really care about you and your feelings, but in the end what matters most is how YOU handle those feelings. As for your brother, he'll grow up in time.
