Angel's Tears

Miles lay behind me.
Miles still stand before me.

Do all roads lead to home?
Will it matter once I get there?

I remember how it started.
The beginning of this journey.

The road stretches out in front of me.
Scenery flies by.

It started with a glance.
Turned into a look.

We said hello.
We started to talk.

The breeze blows through my window.
Scattering thoughts, like papers blown off a desk.

We shared feelings.
We talked about what life was about.

I said to you, “Don’t fall in love with me”
“What if I already have?” was your reply.

My eyes have been fixed on the roadway ahead.
I have seen nothing.

The night the world crashed down…
You held me.

You kissed me.
Told me it would be ok.

I’m almost near you.
I’m bending time, to get back to you.

“How can you know?”, I asked.
“Because I’m here, and I love you.”

7 words erased decades of pain.
1 kiss, erased any other woman I had ever known.

This road has to be the one.
Bring me home.

That kiss sent electricity down my spine.
Feeling your hands on my face… Life.

This moment in time was the reason I was alive.
It brought me to life.

Storm clouds form overhead.
As if heaven knows where my thoughts are headed.

There was a bond with us.
So strong we knew everything just by looking into each others eyes.

Do you love me? For how long?
Answered with one look, “Yes, Forever”

Black skies lie ahead.
The air is still. Has heaven held its breath?

As quickly as it started, God took you away.
I pleaded with him, to let you bring a friend.

We loved a lifetime’s worth.
I held on so tightly to you… Begging Him not to take you from me.

There is a flash in the clouds.
A rumble ahead.

As I watched you slip away, I cried.
Screaming to the sky, “Please take me with you!!”

What once stood as a monument to love.
Was now a tombstone.

Darkness swallows this afternoon.
Suddenly, there is a chill in the air.

Yes, all roads lead to home…
But if no one is home, does it really matter?

The journey is over.
I wipe away the dead leaves, and trace your name with my finger tip.

The sky opens up. The rain falls.
Or is it Angel’s Tears?

Words we couldn't speak, but we've all felt...

Wow! This was amazing! I felt every up and down of this poem as if it were me, mainly because I've been on that same road. You have a real gift to be able to put such emotion onto paper like that. Love It!

I like how

Hey Luke! I like, scratch that--I love how you have a period after every sentence. It looks like your thoughts on paper. Everything that popped in came out and formed a very graphic picture! Fantastica! Two thumbs up and even ten toes up for this Luke!

Been there!

Luke, this was a very moving poem! I know the feelings you have expressed. I've been through them. As has been said, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" But I say, "Do we have a choice?" Keep up the awesome writing! And think about songs ;-)
