A Song For Our Soldiers
5 October, 2005
Author: Mark Spencer
Let's all sing a song for our soldiers,
Fighting on the front lines far away.
Sing the song out loud,
Tell our soldiers that we're proud,
They've given us the life we have today.
It started in that harbor out in Boston,
They said we wouldn't pay a tax on tea.
We'd rather make our own,
Tell your king, leave us alone.
We'll have to fight if he won't set us free.
Let's all sing a song for our soldiers,
Fighting on the front lines far away.
Sing the song out loud,
Tell our soldiers that we're proud,
They've given us the life we have today.
We have fought the English, French and Spanish,
All to secure our freedom in this land.
We fought a civil war,
Because we could not ignore,
On slavery we had to make a stand.
Let's all sing a song for our soldiers,
Fighting on the front lines far away.
Sing the song out loud,
Tell our soldiers that we're proud,
They've given us the life we have today.
Then one day our soldiers sailed to battle,
To join the world against a common foe.
And twice on distant shores,
They fought bloody world wars,
For freedom they were not afraid to go.
Let's all sing a song for our soldiers,
Fighting on the front lines far away.
Sing the song out loud,
Tell our soldiers that we're proud,
They've given us the life we have today.
They fought in Viet Nam and Korea,
And later they were part of Desert Storm.
And then we sent them back
To Bosnia and Iraq.
Their duty always ready to perform.
Let's all sing a song for our soldiers,
Fighting on the front lines far away.
Sing the song out loud,
Tell our soldiers that we're proud,
They've given us the life we have today.
Our soldiers have died in the line of duty,
Whether the wars they fight are right or wrong.
Sometimes they don't agree,
But they fight for you and me.
I think it's time we thanked them in a song.
Let's all sing a song for our soldiers,
Fighting on the front lines far away.
Sing the song out loud,
Tell our soldiers that we're proud,
They've given us the life we have today.
Sing the song out loud,
Tell our soldiers that we're proud,
They've given us the life we have today.
