Angel In Tears

Look at her,
the child with the angel face.
Her eyes are filled with hope and sweetness.
She smiles,
with all the innocence of her tender youth,
and reminds you of all things good.

She is a gift from Heaven,
so pure in all her being,
and you just can't help but wonder,
who could slash a knife
through the canvas
of such a God made work of Art?

There is a demon around the corner,
waiting for her to cross his path of destruction.
And without a thought or care,
he tears apart her world,
ripping out her heart.

The broken pieces of her soul
lie in bloody remnants, torn
and jagged
and crushed.
There is no mistaking the violation.
You can see it in the hollow look in her eyes.

Her body can be repaired,
but she is left so lost,
and chained,
with many fears.
How can so shattered a heart, be made whole again?
How do you regain faith,
when the demon is the one you believed
would always protect you?

Where is her promised Rainbow?
She's had more than her share
of drowning rain.
And what becomes of the scattered feathers
from the discarded wings,
of an Angel in Tears?

------- Author's Notes -------

Inspired by the name of the poet from this site. I was both saddened and fascinated by the concept of an "Angel in Tears", and couldn't think of anything but the lifetime of damage done to small children, which are our gifts from God, who are abused by the ones who are supposed to love and protect them.

the injustice of it all

MC this is a subject very close to my heart. I have worked with adults and children who were victims of abuse throughout the years. Sadly some of them can never be made whole again. Very powerful words. Thank you so much for sharing.

sometimes a childs cry caint be heard

MC, as a child advocate i sooo feel your words here. a child always needs a trustin' smile a warm embrace and a heart full of LOVE lettin' them know they are safe..some do not have that chance , except to speak from their grave..."i am that voice that speaks for them" sometimes one has to see/feel through a child heart. thank you for sharin' the love of and for a child

souls forgotten

MC could not help but shed more than a tear over these crafted words of passion. In my life I have worked with children who sadly thought any abuse was love shared.
Thank you for sharing

Thank you all

for giving of your hearts and time to those little angels, who need it so much. This is an issue that always affects me, deeply. It is just so shocking that anyone could hurt someone so innocent and trusting.
