John Foster's Sonnets
10 July, 2006

His words are soothing, soft and sweet, a lilting, lullaby;
that brings us comfort, when distressed, a salve, for when we cry.

He shares his pain, his joy, his song. His candle burns so bright.
And gives us hope that we shall find, a love that gives us flight.

Oh, to love, and be so beloved, to have, and hold, and keep:
a lovers heart, forevermore, that yet, in death, repletes.

We read his words and dream of this; and lay our hearts upon it:
a prayer for love, just like the one, in John Foster's Sonnets.

------- Author's Notes -------

I wrote this as a comment to one of John's poems (All These Things), and wanted to post it as a poem, in the hope that others will read John's Poetry. Ladies, if you want to know what real love is, John's words are as true as they get.

too kind

Thank you Mari for your very kind words. I don't think I deserve such praise as I consider myself just an average poet. But I thank you once again for your sincerity. It is much appreciated.

For an average poet

your poetry conveys the depth of emotion that survives even death. We should all be so lucky to have a love like the one you write about. I think your work should be published, and shared with the whole world. Average poet, my a**! You rank up there with the great ones, my friend.

gone

John Foster's poems have gone Marion. I have tried to find them as I would have liked to read his sonnets, but he has apparently left.
