Random Beauty

It was there two days ago, along the path I walk;
a double petaled lily, orange, upon it's stalk.
It stood alone amongst the green, no other grew around.
I smiled at random beauty, defiant in the ground.

Then I walked on, and through the trees, a red fox hunted food.
She twitched and turned to stare at me, as if I were quite rude.
She ran away, to feed her babes, in the place they were concealed.
I smiled at random beauty, defiant in the field.

It made me laugh, and throwing back my head, I was surprised
to see an eagle soaring. It's joy was undisguised.
What freedom he possesses, to spread his wings and fly.
I smiled at random beauty, defiant in the sky.

The world is filled with simple things, that play an important part,
of completing the whole picture, if you just look with your heart.
Be aware of all the details; the good amongst the strife.
Then smile at random beauty, defiant in your life.

Thanks Tammy

I'm a florist, and I've never SEEN a double petaled lily, ever before. It was inspiring, especially because it was growing so randomly in a ditch, along the road where I go walking. Thanks for your comment!

Defiance

Nice MC! You always awe me with the stroke of your pencil...or in this case, with the stroke of your fingers on the keyboard. :) Nicely done!

Beautiful poetic imagery,

The pictures inspired by this poem may be even better than the natural scenes which inspired the poem.
