He Always Believes In You

When the darkness falls, and then surrounds
and covers you like a Shroud;
When the pain you feel, overwhelms
and you doubt there is even a God,

When the tears you cry, bring no relief
and it seems they won't be spent;
When you're scared to death, but fear you'll die,
and your heart is torn and rent:

Just close your eyes, and then, hold on tight
it isn't the end at all.
Remember the one who made you.
He's always the one to call.

You may think He isn't listening,
but He hears your every cry.
You may think He doesn't care for you
as He quietly stands by.

But He gave you the strength and courage
to face everything in life.
You must reach for the greatness within
regardless of sacrifice.

You were always a part of His plan.
You play an important part.
If you don't become the most you can be,
you've only sold yourself, short.

He doesn't need your affirmation.
HIS affirmation is true.
No matter what it is, that you think,
He always believes in YOU.

At the end of your days, He'll be there
to welcome you home at last.
For Longer than always, He loves you,
and forgives ALL in your past.

And therein lies the answers you need.
If He forgives, why can't you?
He made us human, to make mistakes,
to learn what we need to do.

So look out into the Universe;
and the endlessness that's there.
Then look into the depths of your heart
and you'll know how much He cares.

Just remember, He gave you choices,
for you to find your glory.
Make the very best of who you are.
Be proud of your life story.

------- Author's Notes -------

I wrote this as an encouragement for a friend who is facing cancer and is scared of the choices that he made in his life, and the consequences he may face in the afterlife. I hope it helps not only him, but anyone else who needs to read these words.

Words for all to read.

Your poem is very reassuring and comforting. Even though I don't think I still have "C", I'm technically a cancer patient. (O.K. for 3 years so far) I'm able to appreciate it's message, especially when it's so beautifully written.
God bless you and your friend. I'm glad to see that you believe. May he so believe.

Thanks

Truthfully, it wasn't any religious training that caused me to believe. I was born KNOWING. I have never doubted. It always amazes me when people do.
