Animals

The appropriate words were hard to find
with the struggle to ease a worried mind
when this evacuation led to a moral bind
on the day we left our pets behind.
--
He could be a threat and may not comply.
Nature is fragile and there's a reason why
the forest creatures wait and quietly lie
until peace is restored and this stranger walks by.
--
The last canine you'd want to meet
is the one whose job is not discreet
and in this life you cannot cheat
a cadaver dog sniffing at your feet!
--
Suggested reading stops right here.
The reference library has closed in fear
so the enigma continues without peer.
Training a cat is still not clear!
--
The swan floats by exuding grace
with a calm exterior on her face
but in tranquil splendor she still has to embrace
her legs underneath are all over the place!
