Four Animals And A Coffee Bean: Poems 1 To 5
16 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
The neurotic monkey fell out of his tree.
He can no longer swing so naturally.
All rhythm is gone and his mojo denied
in this diminishing jungle with a parking lot outside!
--
The social restrictions of standing in line.
The ability to maintain a good credit line.
The acceptable human behaviour of towing the line
but the animal kingdom never crosses this line!
--
He left the hot seat all soiled and wet.
The denial of guilt made him sweat.
The lie detector led to a safe bet
that your guinea pig is not a reliable pet!
--
Gasping for fresh water the fish swam ashore
and under heavy skies the bird flew no more.
The elements were tainted from man's open sore
and the undignified way he conducted his war!
--
The coffee bean takes his place in the crowd.
It's a commitment to solidarity of which he's proud
and with a change in appearance he dosen't mind
to be a part of tradition in this daily grind!
