Taking A Spin On The Roulette Wheel Of Life: 5 Poems
16 June, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
He paints himself into a corner and stands perfectly still
courting a bemused smile and his esoteric will
as the remaining members of the audience say goodbye
before his performance art gets a chance to dry!
--
Jack grew a beanstalk for medicinal reasons
sampled the hemp and enjoyed five seasons.
Winter, Spring, then Summer into Fall
and especially the one where he missed them all!
--
The turtle and the hare were trapped in a snare.
One became soup and the other medium rare
and just when animal lovers think life isn't fair
all the people who ate it are buried over there!
--
The scholars inspected the ancient scroll
of special meaning to those in the know
so now we understand the reason why
bathroom tissue was improved with 2-ply!
--
Time wasn't invited and that's a fact.
The D.O.A. Party just didn't have the tact
and lacking a political agenda they had to subtract
from making a personal appearance before the first act!
