The motivational speaker made a decision to jump
away from the quagmire of his slump
and left his audience with one last pledge:
What good is life without that 'edge!'

--

As we look for some answers about our current state
there is one guideline in which you must equate
as the meaning of life is in our ebb and flow
with the reflective wisdom that 'you never know!'

--

Somehow we forgot to back our claim.
Somehow our effort seemed so lame.
Somehow there's no one else to blame
when apathy gives us more of the same!

--

The burden of history is hard to shake
as we tentatively lay down in its wake
wondering what it will eventually take
from repeating the very same mistake!

--

No one was prepared to take a premature dip
in what turned out to be a short-lived trip
unless you ignore this fatalistic grip
by watering the flowers on a sinking ship!
