This Deconstruction Takes On A Life Of Its Own: 5 Poems
22 July, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
In the sky above I would come to know
the spectre of death kept taunting me so
as I lay here aware that time is my foe
and now landing on my chest was this curious crow!
--
Friends of the environment shook their head
and this was the day most critics would dread
but even more trees were cut down instead
to sell the worst book you've ever read!
--
Higher standards are increasingly rare
as mediocrity has become a dubious affair
and into the mirror you can calmly stare
with no immediate thoughts of replacing your hair!
--
A good man is often hard to find
so Mary Shelley made up her mind.
The ideal mate would be one of a kind
but her monster was born with an axe to grind!
--
Niagara Falls has now run dry.
Our tallest trees no longer reach the sky
and if humanity had given it more careful thought
the Bay of Fundy wouldn't be a parking lot!
