Five Letters Of Character And Distinction: 5 Poems
23 October, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
The Undelivered Letter:
The blood stained letter was thrown away.
The soldier's sentiments never saw the light of day
"and if it's the last breath that I ever take
your name will die on these lips my dear."
---
The Unfinished Letter:
"Paranoia greets me with each new day.
I wish there were simply some other way
but it's inside my system and has taken affect.
My head feels heavy and ...."
---
The Indecipherable Letter:
A message scrawled as you hide in shame.
The only legible word is my first name
and a cry for help is behind this ghostly claim.
Since you've been gone it's not the same!
---
The Letter of Resignation:
I struggle with this compelling point of view
and the words which flow become increasingly few
so in front of this letter I cannot sit.
I think therefore I have to quit!
---
The Letter from Prison:
"Please indulge me with the story you wish to tell
because movement here is limited to my cell
and I yearn for the ocean so open and free
but the sailboat you sold once belonged to me!"
