Bedside Companions: 5 Poems

She's still a good woman from head to toe.
Nightly my affections have put on a show
and I hold her close when I call her dear
although she hasn't been in our bed for over a year!

---

He's happily pickled and so is the juice.
The Gremlin's bowels are criminally loose
as you lay in bed with a hangman's noose
and suffer from a hangover of his nightly abuse!

---

If I should close these eyes until the morning light
and remove the world from my sight
by residing in the repose of this frozen dream
it will be courtesy of my counselor Mr. Jim Beam!

---

Under my pillow where I lay my face
someone has invaded this personal space
and it's a discomforting thought to plainly see
this bloody tooth does not belong to me!

---

Famous last words often apply
from this location and where they lie
with a witness ready to take a note
of the dire circumstances and a memorable quote!
